For Valentines Day…
I gave my girlfriend a blog.
We had been discussing how iPhones have revolutionized the cooking industry and how, even though we possess several very nice cookbooks*, we inevitably go online to look up recipes.
There are many reasons Google knows better than your local cookbook, millions of recipes which can be accessed, skimmed and evaluated quicker than you can find “baked chicken” in the index of even a moderately sized paper version.
Gabriela works full time at a major Manhattan art museum, I go to law school. In crafting our own meals, we rarely have all the required raw ingredients, special appliances, or the time to find alternatives – especially to make the nicer recipes featured in the top cooking blogs. However, if you’ve ever had Gabriela’s cooking, you know that none of these things hold her back.
So the leading statement in this post is misleading. My Valentines Day present to her was 10 dried whole vanilla beans and a jar of pickled olives.
My present to you is this blog, and the open invitation to take us up on any of the recipes you see posted here. You bring the main ingredients and some wine, she will show you how its done.
Welcome, and we hope to see you soon.
